Hello I’m new to the forums so please forgive me if I dropped this thread in the wrong place.
My name is Alex Houston, I’m 20 years old and id really like to get a job as a marshal at a venue in my local area in Bristol UK. I live in Stroud but it seems most of my local sites are in Bristol. My problem is I’m coming from outside the sport of paintball and while for the last 2 years iv realy wanted to get into the sport and have been following it iv not had the money to do so, that still leaves me with nothing in the way of practical experience or personal contacts.
As such I have a few question id like to ask. First, can you give me any tips or pointers as to how I might best go about getting a job as a marshal? Obvious as it might seem please remember I’m coming from outside the sport so what might be obvious to you I might miss completely.
Secondly, if any of you know a site looking to hire marshals could you either give them my email address (at bottom of post) or pm me with some contact detail so that I might get in touch with them. If on the long shot chance that a site owner reads this or someone on this site forwards this to a site owner id also like to say id be more than happy to volunteer for a month to train up IF it would be possible to be paid travel expenses or for me to a lift with someone to and from the site. It’s a long shot I know but still.
And finally id like to ask one last thing, those of you who work as a marshal could you explain some of you experiences as a marshal? High point of the job, low points?
