Well the price will probably refect that mate, Shocker is better, smaller, faster, not sure about more reliable as I've never owned one.

If you want a starter marker the Impy will do you fine for a few months, I started with one and loved it, after a while you'll want to step up to a new marker tho, and when you are considering a Shocker you'll also be looking at Timmys, Trixs, Egos etc. :)

But between Shocker and Impy I'd have to say Shocker.

The (SFT) Shocker is "current", which means you can get spares, parts, upgrades etc. much more easily. Impulses are on the way out so soon you'll have trouble getting bits for them (well, simple things like o-rings won't ever be a problem, but all the bling upgrades that look nice without having any effect on the gun's performance are what I'm thinking of. Everybody needs their bling.)

Just to clarify is this guy on about a SFT shocker or the old 4x4 style?? beacuse in this case an impulse would be my choice.

If the Shocker in question is an old-school shocker, then yes - Impulse, for all the reasons I said in favour of the new shocker, plus the fact that these days nobody wants a gun the size of a Butlins chalet.
