Hey y'all,

I have some Newbie questions that my friend and I would both like answers to if anyone can help please? Just to say, I've received 4 CO2 bottles from someone.

First thing,
Do CO2 bottles have an expiry date like HPA ones do? If so, where would I be able to find it?

Secondly, how do I find the capacity of the bottle?

Thirdly, there is an on/off valve on the bottle. Does + mean gas is on, and - mean it is off?

Hope someone can help.

Thanks a lot!

Also, in the manual for a Piranha GTI, it says that the input pressure must not exceed 1000psi, does this mean I can't use a 3000psi HPA bottle?

the 3000psi bottle holds 300psi however the regulator on it drops this pressure on output to a much lower figure, so you will be fine using 3000psi or even 4500psi hpa bottles.

cant help you with the co2 questions

Yes - look in the Tech Room on this forum for the sticky'd thread which covers all the info you need to know about cylinder retests.

Should be stamped on the bottle.

Probably! Clearly, don't do this if there's any chance whatsoever of there being gas in the bottle or you'll get an eye full of high pressure gas! Assuming it's empty, look into the top of the valve and twist the knob. You may well be able to tell when it is open and when it is closed.
Hope someone can help.

Thanks a lot!

As stated above, HP air systems regulate the pressure in the tank (3000psi or 4500psi) down to the correct operating pressure (HP output tanks are normally in the region of 800psi) as this is similar to the pressure of CO2 coming out the tank if i remember correctly.

Alloy or steel Co2 bottles require testing every 5 years and the test date and fill capacity can be found stamped on or just below the neck of the bottle.

Co2 bottles come in either 7,9,12 or 20 ounce's with 12 and 20oz being the most popular.
