Name change - name already exists error

I've just gone for name changin (from tommikka to Tom)
But I'm getting the error that it already exists, the member search doesn't have a Tom, just a few variations - can I have Tom, or is it reserved etc?

I've done a little digging and the original Tom has not been on for over 4 years and hasn't posted in over 10 years so with a little jiggery pokery your request has been granted.
