Get a new one

I would highly recommend investing in something new and more competitive rather than trying to upgrade a Spyder in hopes of getting more performance out of it. Doing so need not be expensive--a basic (stock with a couple of basic mods like new barrel and reg) Cocker, Shocker, Bushmaster, or an Impulse would serve you well, taking you leaps and bounds forward from the Spyder without costing an exorbitant amount of money. Basically all the improvement that can be gained from these guns; no further amount of money actually produces any material functional gain over these markers. As with any gun, having a good barrel and nitro system on them makes the most difference from there.

Try those and see which is right for you. Have fun!

99 or similar Cocker used = $250 +$50-60 for barrel = $300-310 (0ften includes desirable upgrades in with it)
new 2000-2001 Cocker = $330 + $50-60 = $380-$390
new Impulse = $400 + $50-60 = $450-460
new Shocker = $570 (needs nothing necessarily, though new barrel preferable)
used Shocker = $475-$550, depending on what's on it
used Bushmaster = $450 + barrel, more often than not a barrel is included...
new Bushy = $500-550 Note: with a Bushy, an adjustable output nitro tank is required, which if you don't already have one adds $~250+ to the cost of owning one.

Revo cost adds to all of them, nitro is something you'll want but isn't essential among those except the Bushy.

matrix

if you are looking for a new gun then i suggest the matrix. its as fast as an angel, but is equal in range to a cocker. £650-675 if you look around. hore this helps. :p

What about a trusty mag? You will save $, and if later you want you can upgrade the hell out of it. Or get an upgraded one from ebay or the like for $250 and up. Just a thought in case your that strapped for cash. Good luck!
