Help!

Got a lot of files which on Excel & Word I need to unlock from the document password - I know there are a few packages that unlock them if you google, but aware that some may just be crap! (read the small print on one which after paying $50 allowed you 1 word and 2 Excel then you had to buy more credits!!!! wtf!)

Anyone know a way, recommend a package or better still have a copy of a package!

Legal Bit! Don't worry, these are legit accounts/business information from one of my own companies and I need to unlock from about 3 - 5+years ago as my new accountant want copies but I cannot for the life in me remember the passwords and pi$$ed off with trying.

Anyone help?

cheers

I have some programs that can pobably do this, but they use large tables of information, which, I wouldn't be able to send as they are about 1gb each.

If you can send me the files I can try to unlock them for you, full confidentiality would be maintained ect.

so erm... how much would this 'confidentiality' cost Bon? ;) every man has his price i've heard

I have also heard that a couple of programs exsist on linux that allow you to just brute force hack a password, i've never kept a document locked, but if your allowed unlimited tries then you could try something like that.

Fortunately for a lot of people my integrety has no price.

These tables I use are similar to those you mention, but use a smarter aproach than just 1 letter a a time. If you want to read up on it, have a look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rainbow_table

I can recommend AOPR / AOPB -

I have a licenced copy but would have to seek it out. As I recall you can run the trial copies which will at least give part of a password or a simple password. In a few cases this will be enough to give a clue to remind you of the passwords.

If older versions of Office an I recall correctly often have an instant result because of certain types of password (it gives you a password to unlock which will differ from the original)

Thanks for the responses, Bon, very nice offer and if I cannot do it at home/work then I may take you up on your offer.

Tom, thanks for the link, thats looks quite interesting so I may try and dwonload the eval version and see how it performs, although I dont want to spend £99 on a licence lol!

Cheers peeps
