Hey,

iv been rec paintballing for about a year now, abd iv been getting a lot more into it quite recently. Im looking at going to tournament or two now, and getting my own kit and stuff.
Im looking at a Spyder imagine from this nice american site, (129 dollars) or otherwise id have about 100 pounds for a marker. Is there any kit and markers you guys would strongly recommend?

any info would be appreciated,

cheers,

beedle

first off, welcome to p8ntballer matey :D

if i was you i would stay away from those cheap spyders and stuff, at teh end of the day you get what you pay for :(

save your money for a while and get yourself one of these
http://www.planeteclipse.com/site/prodView.asp?prodID=1487

is only 300 quid. is far far more upgradeable than a spyder and it will run reasonably well off c02 until you can afford to get your self am air system.

dont forget to try before you buy tho cos as ever this is just my 2 pence worth :D

cheers, but i dont want to get a 300 marker yet, im alright at rec paintballing but i want to find if im any good at tournament paintball, so im not spending that much on a gun to begin with, and i can always get a better one later on if i want to.

Unless you wanna give me 200 quid that is :p

also welcome

i am quite new to this site as well but i have noticed that instead of buying a new gun for loads of money just wait until the guys on here sell their stuff it looks to me like stuff is being sold here quite regularly and at a lower price. sometimes people need cash quick and if u do some research and find what gun u want to get then u could get it with some great upgrades at a lower price then if u bought it brand new.

Cheers

i have been playing ball for 6 years and i still am not quite sure at what gun i want. so for u to find what gun u want in a week it has got to be the wrong one.

think at what position you want to play in the tourney and that will give a slight help as to what gun u want to get.

Finding a team

Well iv been looking round this forum loads, and it seems the best thing to do is find a team to practise with? So... :p any teams out there looking for players? if not then anyone interested on taking me on to train with you sometimes? :p
Im 16 so i dont know if thatll affect things, i live in reading, (near london) but i can travel places by train easily.

to be honset £130 spent on a new basic spyder marker is almost money wasted, very few people keep them for long and there's much trouble to be had down that route

you want cheap and basic, go for and inferno, secondhand you looking from £50, and it'll live long enough to keep as a spare for years

and tip of the day, if anyone has a freak kit in your mates, buy a front and back for the inferno and just ponce thier largest insert off them (they won't be using it), done seconhand that'll sort you for £50 for a barrel i've found to work brilliantly on infernos

Best advice I can give having been in exactly the same position is don't try and run a spyder when you play 'tourney' ball.

You will soon get frustrated at the lack of speed and accuracy (I know I did). Spyders are perfect for rec-ball - I still use my son's (used to be mine) Spyder Xtra occasionally - saves getting my angel speed full of mud and stuff.

I agree with the 'freak' comment above. Luckily I have a full set for my angel - so I just bought a back to fit the spyder (also fits an inferno btw - same thread).

As you've already said - get a team to go and try out with - I'm sure you'll find plenty of willing helpers nearby :).

On the 'more expensive' marker front - why not ask to borrow one at the training session - or, as an alternative, come to the next PA event in Stafford and talk to me or one of my team mates. We are always willing to give anyone a try of our 'babies'.

Good luck in whatever you decide...
