Sorry if this is a repost I wasn't sure how to search it exactly...

I've been thinking about picking up a new marker, my Imp is a bit old fashioned and I figure for what it would cost to upgrade I could have a nice new Ion. Probably sink another $120 (I'm working in US funds here, sorry guys) into it and it would be good too go. Now for a few about a hundred dollars more I could have a Nerve. And about $150 beyond that I could have a Proto. Getting up into the $1000 range I'm looking at an Ego.

Now my question is, how much more does one really get for thier money? As one goes up in price, the ROF goes up. But I'm not going to be able to pull the trigger 25-30 times a second, so I'm not really worried about that.

What am I over looking?

Feel and quality of the marker. To bo honest, who with the newest angel with every get it to shoot the 30bps it can shoot. They buy them for the feel and their build quality.

If you like the feel of the ion and you want something that you caa upgrade, pick up a second hand shocker, they are about £250-300 now, so fairly cheap, and that really is a lot of marker for your money!

Pick up a 2nd hand marker mate, 05 ego's are about £300-£400 2nd hand, and you can upgrade them to a similar standard as newer markers.

Shockers are good, or ions also (don't bother with the nerve just use a shocker with a nerve board).

Personal experience speaking, IONs when upped are amazing gats, BUT and i know some people will find this a shock (equinox, Tom allen) The pm5 when setup right is a truly awesome piece of kit, it really is.

Its a tought decision as your looking at a big price gap but my opinion if you want a 'less expensive' gat thats fully upgradable for the ion, if you want to spend a lil more go for an ultralited PM5,

There ive said it...lol

hope it helps a lil

i need something calming!!!

As Rosie said though...
An 05 Ego is a good bet... or an 05 Angel Speed.

IF your on a tight budget, a second hand upped... (shudders...) Ion..

So I'm pretty easy to please, all I want is something that's low on maintenance, shoots faster than me, has eyes, and I don't have to think about while playing ... (that's pretty much everything I look for in a girl too...)

The reason I mentioned the Nerve is that actionvillage has them for $475 right now and it seems to me that it would be a better choice than an Ion ... but I'm really not sure. I feel like after years of playing pump and with a cocker and later eblade that I can play with anything well enough, I'm just curious if those price jumps are "worth it" or if they're just adding to the hype.

I'd really like to buy something new. The last new marker I bought was my Phantom back in '98 and for the first time in my life I have more money than sense. I think it's more that I've lost sense than gained money, but what ever works, right?

I've shot all those guns mentioned and from my brief experience with them they all seem reasonable for where I'm at in life. Of course spending an extra $700 on a gun means ~10 days of play worth of cash ... but if you're playing 50+ days a year (or trying to at least) it might be nicer to do it with some quality kit ...

I don't know, clearly I'm conflicted.

Nerves absolutely rock! Don't let anyone tell you otherwise! I bought a second hand one (cheers speedbird ;)) for my brother and it's one of the best markers I've used! It has a different feel to a shocker (feels more solid to me) and works completely different. Maintaining is dead easy (if my brother can do it, anyone can :)) and they are as fast as any other marker I've used! And for about $200 less than a shocker I wouldn't think twice!

I had an Ion... for about 3 weeks! They are just a nice cheap alternative, but eventually everyone moves on so you might aswell save yourself some cash and get a Nerve straight off!
