Just opened up the bolt on my mini to lube it etc, when I noticed this rather large scratch/gouge on the bolt (See pictures) Anyone know what it's from etc as I assume it's not too good. The rubber tip of the bolt is also starting to wear in the places of the gouge.

Yup this can happen. A small piece of grit can get in there and cause a scratch like this. Especially if you play 10 games in a day or something.

KEE will be able to help you out, and you should have a replacement rubber tip in your spares kit. If you ask nicely, KEE might replace any worn parts for brand new ones, so keep the worn rubber tip, and if you go to a MS or anywhere with a KEE trade stand, you can take it to the tech tent.

I have no idea if its the only cause of this problem. I have however seen almost all the minis I've been around have some wear to the bolt and bolt guide. In most cases, its only the anno wearing off the bolt guide, which is simply the bolt wearing on the guide/maybe not enough lube?

Rainbow shooter has quite a big gouge out of his though, and I assume a piece of grit has got lodged in there.

i bought 2 mini silver, within 2 boxes paint 1 had gone very simalar to your bolt guide tip had worn hideously as well causing air to leak, kee had back agreed to send me new mini red
well 1 or 2 boxes paint heavy gauge (a ring around bottom bolt,at the position were bolt in photo starts going up), remove bolt clean try again each time bolt remove retried gauge would go further round the bolt until full 360 degress, then gauge went up to the tip just as in photo but also gauged the boltguide this time at the rear upto the first oring, all this under 4 boxes paint. this has also been returned to kee ,i been told full refund, still awaiting it

ps 1 of first silvers i bought has done 20ish boxes paint , the bolt has 1 small nick on it 1mm long, bolt guide was perfect untouched until now when a very slight mark has appeared on bottom tip of the guide, was only used for a couple games as i know have ego7, mini was used by m8 as his dm6 went down

personally i think invert should start selling mini with derlin bolt as i now read this is safest way to assure no damage, or they need to redisign the bolt / bolt guide

edit i just read bolter saying possibly not enough lube, garaunteed there was enough lube, most damage appeared as from fact lube

personally i agree with bolter worst of damage is caused by foriegn particle , but it isnt grit, its the chaffings of bolt/boltguide (most minis get some degree of wear) if u unlucky the material removed here lodges causes damage
a bit of grit or a piece of metal? personally my hands sorrounding area are clean when lubing my guns
