The following teams have won prize money for their referee performances during the Millennium Series, Season 2004:

First prize: €5000, Syndicate Instinct
Second prize: €3000, Just Manchester
Third prize: €2000, Eifel Blitz

It wasn't easy to pick winners since so many teams did so well in the performance of their reffing duties. The final three had to be selected by lottery from five that included Consilium Dei and Hellwood in addition to the winners already mentioned here.

Congratulations!

Well done

The Millennium Series needs to have team support in order to make the reffing work. Everyone knows that the refs can make or break an event for the teams so good refs are hard to find....

Congratulations to the teams who have won prizes, you deserve it. Special thanks to Eifel Blitz, you guys did a great job on my field in Madrid.

If your team have not offered to judge an event yet, you have no reason to whinge to me.....;)

Is it a joke!!!!!!

I think it's a joke!

Team like Hellwood or Consilium won events and were in the 4th most of the time on each event and they haven't won the same prize money....

Can the millennium organisation explain how much the team won in each event and why so few money?

I don't say that the reffing teams don't need that money. They make excellent job.

Congrats to all the refs

Just to echo Neil's comments - thank you to all the teams that put in the time and effort to ref the Millenium events. Without their efforts, the series couldn't happen.

Congratulations to Instinct (Svens!), Just Manchester and Eifel Blitz.

Angel Dust -

Comparing the reffing prize to an event prize is an apples and oranges comparison. The reffing prize is an end of year thing, not for every event. Teams don't pay for the right to ref. And the prize is an incentive for team to work harder and do a better job.

Reffing a major event is a lot tougher than playing in one. Longer days, more games, no breaks and a lot more stress. And any mistake is sure to be blown out of proportion.

What's the harm if the Millenium organizers want to give an incentive prize for best reffing?
