Its pretty obvious from reading a few of the other Threads that the majority of people are still unsure of whats happening this season regarding the Millennium Series. The fact that the 'big' update on the '10th' did not really materialise when it was supposed to and the lack of definite answers to some of the questions posed after the eventual update, has not instilled confidence in the average Euro-Baller.

I think Nick Brockdorff has got it right when he said the following:
The MS will go out of its way to please the teams this year - if they do not, they'll be put out of business in 2006, when the NPPL hits Europe.
But whats worrying me is that with all this speculation about 5-Man 'tie-ins' and Promoters themselves not really knowing whats going on......how sure and definite are the Dates & Events that have been advised? Are these Events/Dates subject to change?

MILLENNIUM SERIES 2005

PRESS RELEASE

Europeans are by nature innovators and whilst the 2004 season was not revolutionary, it laid the foundations for the future. The coming 2005 season promises to be the most exciting year that paintball has yet seen, with the development of a new 7-man professional format.

In a few short years, the Millennium Series has been instrumental in the presentation of our sport. Moving from the shade of the woods in to the public domain of stadiums and now towards the world spotlight of television and mass media. Progress of the teams participating is extensively covered in all major Paintball Magazines and Internet sites.

With ever increasing media coverage, more than 20 TV channels, over 50 newspapers and magazines, high profile locations, Crystal Palace Stadium, National Stadium Lisbon, Barran Stadium Toulouse and an increasing number of participating teams, the Millennium Series 2004 was the engine of our sport. Now is the time, like never before, to capitalize on what has been achieved so far and step up a level.

The Millennium Series 2005 will be even bigger, better

and will go further than ever before.

Be part of the future, welcome to the dawn of

the New Millennium Series 2005.

For 2005 there will be 5 spectacular high quality events. More investment than ever before is being made to ensure that we provide the best of everything including high level professional judging. The dates are confirmed as follows;

Maxs European Masters – Bitburg Germany: 22nd – 24th April

DMA 2005 – Amsterdam, Holland: 3rd – 5th June

7 Man World Cup – Paris France: 1st – 3rd July

Campaign Cup – England: 2nd – 4th September

Iberian Cup – Madrid Spain: 7th – 9th October

We will present a new Champions League and the start of a professional league system. At the end of 2005 the Champions league will be locked to the top 15 pro teams plus the top Division 1 team. At the end of 2006 Division 1 will be locked. Teams will then be relegated and promoted at the end of each season. At last we will have true rankings based on actual results.

Also will you receive much higher prize money. Overall prize funds are to be substantially increased with a much higher proportion going to Division 1 & 2 teams than ever before. We will re-introduce end of season prize money in Division 1 and 2 paying down to 8th place.

We’re developing a fully integrated and professional media awareness campaign. This will ensure that we maximize team profiles around the industry and wider media ensuring that success at Millennium events can be translated into sponsorship deals.

To top this we will have sanctioned 5 man events in order to ensure the development of the teams of tomorrow.

Best regards,

Karlijn

That's the press release that is on the MS website also

So - it is there for everyone to see.

I honestly don't know what is is people want to know so urgently, and are bitching about not knowing?

-We all know there will be no X-Ball
-We all know the format will be 7-man under MS rules
-We all know there will be no collaboration with the NPPL
-We all know dates and cities of the events (well, not the British one, but come on, it's in SEPTEMBER)
-We all know there will be qualification for a locked Pro league and who will qualify
-We all know Division 1 and 2 will get season/series prizes, and Pro and Division 3 NOT
-We all know Division 1 and 2 will get more prize money, and Pros and Division 3 NOT
-We all know that some 5-man events will be sanctioned by the MS (the word is "sanctioned" - not "organised".... so who cares?).

So... what's the problem ??

Everything else will work itself out in time..... and we the teams will get plenty of time to decide if we are going to stay loyal to the MS in the future or not.

:)

Having just re-read my own post.....

.... it becomes apparent to me, that EITHER the MS has big things in store for Pro and Division 3 teams - yet to be disclosed...... OR the MS sees that in the future their focus is to be teams that do not have the budget for NPPL or budget enough for every MS event.......

Nick, as far as i understand it out of the press release, the prize money for pro teams will even increased, but the slope isn't as much as for Division 1 and 2 teams.

Maybe I misunderstand the release....

But, I would be surprised to see a significant increase in Pro prizes.

I ofcourse hope I'm wrong ;)

Nick, how do we know there will be no collaboration between the Millennium and the NPPL? You are the only one having said that, and you do not want to reveal who you got the info from, so for us it´s more or less un-useful until we hear it oficially.

There's no mention of collaboration on the NPPL site and the MS dates have been removed from the NPPL calendar. Looks pretty clear to me.

I heard the same thing from a reliable source, so no NPPL events in europe this year. Guess I'll have to do some more Millenium events :D
