10.02 Players, officials and all on field must wear full-face protection as it comes from the manufacturer in its original form. The face or ear protection of goggle systems will not be allowed to be turned or twisted upward or in anyway modified from their original form at any time or place where goggles are required.

i could be wrong but i think its only the JT masks that have chin straps...that i can think of anyway.....not putting chin strap on or cutting it off is not really the same as altering the shape of the mask, it has been designed to give full facial protection, rolling a mask up on the field of play is just sheer stupidity, just think....you are shouting to your team mates, mouth open, paint hits you straight thru your open mouth and hits the back of your throut....lets face it your gona end up in a bad way.....sorry..but i think people like that get the sport a bad name.....ill probably be open to critisism here, but stick to the rules, you get less injuries, at rec-ball sites you would`nt let a punter do it would you, you`d be ****ting yourself waiting for the compen claims coming in...

That maybe the ruling, but I saw several players playing in Amsterdam with Profilers cut-down and JT softears attached.

Will this rule be more strictly enforced in Paris?

thats just cool. customisation should be allowed.

i dont see a problem if the lens and eye protection isnt affected, or like the ear protection. who cares if you get shot in the cheek, not much different to the neck, and stuff and it happens with not modified goggles, especially with TUMOURHEADS like Dan Legon.(his head is huge)(wow).
hi rachel.

Why oh why would anyone want to modify their goggles?

Apart from tryin' to look cool it ain't BIG, unless you got more game than ollie lang and got an uglier face than alex fraige:eek:

You WILL end up lookin' like the elephant man, your choice!

its back again....

We went through all this same subject on the PA forums, when the MNPAL enforced the "no modification" rule.

If you cut off/remove any item from the mask that was originally designed to be a "feature" of that mask ( including chin straps ), then you are modifying it. And as such, the manufacturer will not warrant it, and it is no longer certified. If you wear it in any way, other than that directed in the instructions , you are releasing the manufacturer of any liability, and it is no longer certified. If you bend or mis-shape it , then it is modified. Even to the point where I have had players told to change goggles because they were bent out of shape from being pressed in the kit bag. Remember the JT Ize goggles? Look at them too hard and they bent out of shape.

If you replace any standard item with another standard replacement item ( such as a new lens, or soft ears, because they are a manufacturer direct replacement item ) then the mask would not be modified, and therefore certified.

And who is going to determine which mask modifications are safe and which are not? We gotta set up a committee to review each mod for each goggle system, just because paintball is populated by morons who can't comprehend a simple rule like "DO NOT MODIFY YOUR MASK!"

We know that masks, as sold, are safe. We know there's no significant reason to mess with them, and we know that trying to determine which modificiations made are safe is a pain, so, you're just not allowed to modify the mask.

I would gain endless amusement if refs just started pulling people with mask mods. "You're eliminated." "Wha What for?" "Stupidity."
