After 4 amazing years Militia Paintball Team (Cpc Militia) are to disband this month on the 21st of October.
Late last week after two of Militia's longest running members announced they were to leave, the remaining original members reached the decision that Militia's goals for next year were no longer possible.
The decision took days of thought and a sleepless night, but the goal to play the Millennium Series and be successful as Militia was no longer possible due to the team being split with some players who were ready to enter the series and go far, and others having new commitments and goals outside of paintball.
Being that the team remain the closest of friends, and that some will say that Militia played a part in the best four years of their life so far. It has been decided that on the 21st of October on the final day the team will make one last outing playing as a full 10 man Militia team at the Midlands 10man event. So everyone who wishes to come up for a farewell or a chance to shoot us please do.
There after the players will go their separate ways, some may partly regroup in other teams, others may go alone to continue their story, but how they started in paintball and what they achieved they will never forget, and we hope will not be forgotten by those that knew the team.
How it it all started.
Summer 2008 - The team was founded and formed from woodland marshals coming from sites all over Kent with idea to form team from good, honest players as an experiment so to train hard and simply see what happens. The tournament paintball team was originally called BattleBreed (..No comment) and later that year the team was renamed Kent Militia.
2009 - The team were given a piece of private land to use in Canterbury for free whenever they wanted, in the agreement they could turn what was a field of 8ft brambles into a grass field. After 6 months of the teams hard work it was made, and The Militia field was born. The rest of that year was spent learning how to play tournament paintball from scratch at that very field, as well as with a group of players at a field in Tonbridge. That group grew bigger and by the end of the year become the club C.P.C.
2010 - CPC Militia took on club sponsorship with Just Paintball and entered their first tournament series the Proto KOTH and with a haul of 1st place trophies went on to become Series Champions with the leagues highest recorded score for a winning team at the time.
2011 - The team took on sponsorship from FS Paintball, Custompb, Paintballpimp, Eden and entered Div 1 Masters & NSPL Div3. Again the team become series champions, this time in Div1 Masters, and took 3rd place in the NSPL series despite missing the odd tournament it was there most successful year.
2012 - The team saw some of it biggest roster changes throughout the season, despite that once again they entered the highest division being the Race to 2 Division in the Masters.
In that final season the team podium finished half the amount it did in previous seasons. However statistically for a team that started with new players that trained from scratch on its own for a lot of the time we certainly surprised ourselves and others with our years of good results.
Despite not reaching the teams full potential, not many teams can say they won 2 leagues 2 consecutive seasons in a row. In fact not only that but Militia came 1st at tournaments more than it came 2nd, and it came between 1st and 2nd 70% more than it placed anywhere else on the score boards at NSPL, KOTH and the highest division at Masters tournaments.
Between the leagues out of 23 tournaments Militia had a podium finish at 19 of them.
These results and the amazing story we had couldn’t have been achieved without everybody who is and was in the team.
So a big thank you to Aaron Farmer, Chris Hewitt, Andy Hewitt, Brian Wood, Sam Upton, Simon Giles, Andrew McLarney, Justin Cutress, Gleb Smirnov, James Green, Ben Horsman, Sam Fynan, Mark Swords, Marcus Higgins, Liam Holmes, Ben Marsden, Sam Lawrence, Ant Perry, Nick Holmes, Richard Harris, Jamie Turton, Jason Parker, Shane Ribbens and Richard Sutherland.
Thank you to all the leagues that we competed in and that sponsored us, all the sponsors through the years and especially FS Paintball.
Finally thankyou to everyone who guested, or who was in Machine our second team, Every team from C.P.C, and every team and player or person that we have ever met, knows of us, or watched our vlogs.
For those who were in the team stepping away from paintball wherever they go I'm sure they will take stories of Militia with them, For those continuing there story in paintball look out for them in new teams playing in the Uk, Europe and (who knows) even America.
In the meantime, we'll see you at the 10man event!
c-p-C!!!
