I'm looking into starting a woods tourny in the midlands, and I want people to give me some ideas of what they would want from it.

Currently I only have one idea for myself that I think is actually workable.

1) Half hour games - Just like the PA has 1 hour long games against the same opponent with around 20 rounds being played during that hour, do the same thing in the woods but with half hour instead of an hour to minimize the waiting around for other teams. Also include a staging area next to the field

Please post up and tell me what you think and what you would like to see in a woods tourny. Sensible suggestions please (Suggestions for pole dancers will be ignored because it's already been thought of :p)

what sumo is saying is that this forum is mainly aimed at supair/tourny, the link he gave you is to a forum more aimed at woodlands stuff.

Defo Interested

Hi there

Would definitely be interested in this as sounds like a tourny but in the woods... ? Have I understood that right?

There is one that already takes place at Warped Cosford known as the multiball series which is a huge success, so I could see you drawing interest from a lot of the other guys that play there especially with it being in the midlands.

As the other guys said, WalkOnZone is more geared towards woodland and scenario but if I have understood correctly could suit both types of players.

Let me know details?
Martin :)

Thats exactly right a tournament series in the woods, something competitive but no where near as serious as sup air (ive seen veins ready to burst at the PA this season, not my idea of fun getting that stressed).

I realise my first post wasnt very clear at all, sorry about that was very tired at the time. I'll try to start again.

As n3ls0nm has said, its a tourny in the woods. I'm hoping to make it a series, but initially I think a one off event, to see how well the format works, hopefully this year.

The thing that I'm hoping will set this aside from other series is that any profits made from the events after all costs have been deducted will go to charity. The reason for this, other than the obvious benefit for the chosen charity(s), is that I think doing something like this reguarly will bring the sport into the public eye in a positive way.

What I really need is suggestions for what YOU the players want in a woodland event, such as facilities, types of fields, whatever you can think of.

Here is my suggestion (Reposted from my first post)

1) Half hour games - Just like the PA has 1 hour long games against the same opponent with around 20 rounds being played during that hour, do the same thing in the woods but with half hour instead of an hour to minimize the waiting around for other teams. Also include a netted staging area next to the field of play

I know of the Warped Multiball at Cosford, we play there and its a brilliant event.

I'd like to point out that I'm also on here under my regular name, Listerofsmeg, I just created this one because I liked the sound of it when I was half asleep the other day (Severe lack of sleep makes anything sound good though)

Ok this is me Mister-E back on my regular account. (I swear I will never go 4 days with only 8 hours sleep again!)

Fezter, is there anything inparticular you'd like to see in a tourny?

Ok differences, the obvious one is that profits go to charity. I haven't played Genesis so can't help with that, and I haven't gone to Ionman but will be next month.

The other thing is I'm trying to make it "by players, for players", give them what they want so long as its practical to do so. It's very early days at the moment so give me time to think everything through.

Hey dude

Glad that I got the right end of the stick ;)

In terms of what I would want from a woodland tourney, your proposal for similar to PA but in the woods sounds cool. Round timings and format seem straight forward.

If it is a charity thing and you are hoping to encourage a more "fun" element to it, maybe some small style objectives games for points accumulation..? You know the kind of "get the hostage out of the killing house within a time limit" kind of thing as I think that this will offer a variety that still allows for tactical speed and aggression, whilst helping newer teams to work better together from a communication and coordination point of view.

What do people think?
