I have a LCD Matrix, and have just got a Freak back for it. The feed tube/barrel section has cocker threads. I know this because I have used 2/3 other barrels on it, and they have fit fine. It is the stock LCD marker, nothing has been changed on it.

When it comes to screwing my brand new Cocker Freak SS back in, it will not screw all the way in. The threads are still exposed and there is a gap between the barrel and the gun, when I take the front section off and look through. There is resistance there, and it feels like I have cross threaded it, but I have'nt :( I was just wondering if there was any solution to this problem, or would I have to sell my awesome Freak kit!

One suggestion I have received is that I could use some grease on it.

Just incase anyone was wondering, the threads of both the barrel and the feed tude/barrel section are in perfect condition.

ANy ideas?

how big a gap are we talking about here?
is the barrel 'wobbly' when screwed in.. if it is stable then is this issue not a purely cosmetic one? Have you tried a big ass o-ring yet...(just a thought):D
good luck!

Thanks for the offer Graham, but I can't see it coming to that. The barrel is not wobbly when semi-screwed in, but there is a gap between the barrel and the gun. This could stop the balls travelling smoothly down the barrel, and may even cause them to break in the barrel :( Have not tried it out yet, as I am not playing for a while. Keep the suggestions coming though.

Has this happened to anyone else with a Matrix, or am I the only one???

Some of the newer breaches were cut with threads that weren't deep enough. Where did you buy it from? Diablo sorted me out with a replacement while they had a new one anodised to match my marker. You could try giving whoever sold it you a call. It's a known problem...

sounds like the thread on the barrel is too long and not all of it is going into the gun...this means that the end of the barrel is in the right place....if it works ok and dont come loose leave it or put an oring in the gap

Take the breech off and screw the freak in as far as it goes. Thenput some balls in the feed tube and push through with your finger. Then do the same with another barrel and see if it does the same.

Then compare :)

Its ok, the problem is kinda sorted. The back is a cockert thread and my Matrix is also a cocker thread. The problem is something to do with the Budd threads and the cocker threads being of a slightly different deisgn. This came straight from Budd's mouth at Amsterdam, so I am not sure how much truth is in this :)

The threads in my Matrix are brand new, and not worn. My mates Matrix (1 year old) has slightly worn threads, and the freak back fits it perfectly. All my Matrix needs is to have its threads use a bit. Maybe some Vasoline will help me here. Thanks for all your help. Phillip, I will try your suggestion.
