Marshaling Board Required ?

Comments please if you think it would be a good idea if we had a forum just for rules and how we want the rules to progress and since we are on the www. why can we not try and have a set of rules that we can use worldwide. Of course they might be reasons for a change at certain events but we are able to do that now so its not a problem - comments please

I'm not sure a forum just for rules debate would get much/enough traffic, but this would be the kind of thing that I think should go into a general forum.

There were some excellent new rules in force at Toulouse.

Manike - You might be right but the reason for asking is to find out.
If you remember the outcry after mayhem the old board could hardly cope and now its all seemed to have died down so will anything change, not untill we all insist on it.
I have not managed to find the new rules you talked about but look forward with interest on viewing them - If anyone knows where i can find them please e me or post reply

I think the outcry after mayhem was over the poor implementation of the rules, not the actual rules that existed. I.e. it was about the marshalling. Maybe this is different maybe it's the same point...

New rules in force at Toulouse included on field chronographing.

New deadbox location (behind the huge start banners so dead players couldn't watch the game and/or interfer with decisions from the dead box. This was a fantastic idea in my opinion.

There were some problems with on field chronographing in Toulouse as the chrono used going on was reading about 40 fps different. It would have been better to use the actual on-field chrono before going on and then there would be no problems (just ask Andy Piper from Dark Angels - he actually got 1 for 1'd for it!!)

As for the dead box, great idea, really good implementation but the screen needed sides to it. This was used in the Hyperball events a few years ago and I cant believe its taken this long to come back - so few dead players screaming at marshalls/fighting at this event - great!!

All in all the best Tournament I have played in 10 years of Tournament paintball - roll on Sweeden

The Dead Box sounds ke a good Idea. What do you mean it was 40fps wrong was it diferent to the off field crony?

Mikez:cool:

Yes,

Apparently the judges were meant to check the on-field chronos against the off-field chrono every 5 games or so and note the difference by the off-field chrono so teams know what the on-field is running at. This wasn't done and Dark Angels took the fall-out.

on field chronos

ok guys "we" thats is the UK Cougars were given those small handheld chronos to use at the World Cup last year in Orlando I personally found them reasonably accurate BUT they did differ from the field chrono, I tested the on field chrono every two games but it wasn't pratical to use it during the game ...as was its suggested use. But I knew (from testing it) it was only a few feet different from the field chrono so I would have used it had I needed to....sounds like there wasn't a sensible person doing the chrono judging...the reason I say this is it should have been picked up long before the unfortunate event with Andy Piper.
Just my thoughts but then thats what this forum is for.

Yes I think they were designed for that but a "ball" whatever its size, mass etc still moves at the same speed when a radar beam is tracking it (big heavy baseball will hurt though at 300 fps lol) but you get the idea. as to cost I have no idea they were given to all fields at the World Cup for the judging staff ,primarily the chrono judge although we were given two, one for the field ultimate and one for me. They were advertised in the World Cup programme but I didn't pay for them I just used them ...well as I said before I could have used it but you are supposed to let the game flow in the states (here too) by not calling the player neutral to check the marker, trust me if you went in and tried to check without a neutral call you would have slowed everthing down to a silly pace aslo if you had tried to get in the players face without calling neutral you were asking for trouble ..at the very least that you were in the way, or getting shot by shielding the player from the other side. So as I said in my last post good idea but try and implement it? not a chance.
