Iv got a viewloader charger marker and using a guerilla air tank at 3k the gun seems reasonably powerful but would like a bit more out of it.someone told me you can adjust the velocity by turning the allen bolt at the rear of the marker in more.is this true and would it be a good idea to do this or would it pay just to buy a more powerful marker?

Field limit is normally 280 fps (some go up to 300 fps), no reason to turn it up any further, on the charger there is probably an allen key hole at the back of the lower tube, screw it in to turn it up.

Power is no different in a £1000 marker, you can turn it up as stated but to no more than 300fps. Your marker will be chrono tested before playing to test it anyway, the guys at the site you play will look after you and explain better than I can

Ok still pretty new to everything, might be a stupid question but if it is lower than 300fps will turning it up use more air and will it affect accuracy?

air use will go up with higher velocities, but sites will check the speed before you play so if you are playing at a proper paintball site get it to about 270 / 280 and leave it there.

If you're messing about on private land firstly be very careful, if the public can wander in you could end up with a big personal injury claim and or armed response unit if one sees you / gets hit.

If it is private games on land with permission please don't go over 300 fps - there's a couple of very good reasons for this, the first is the legal position, while the classification of paintball markers is a little bit of a grey area taking one over about 330 fps could be construed as a firearm resulting in a minimum prison sentance if found in possesion of it.

The other is that part of the reason that 300 fps was reached as a good speed for a maximum was that higher could result in broken little fingers if shot close up.

yep legal limit is 300 feet per second, but many sites operate just below that for safety. You should NOT be firing a marker at anyone if you have not chrono'd it first. A chronograph will tell you how fast in fps the paint is travelling and going over 300fps is dangerous and slightly illegal.

Always chrono at least once a day, if not just before you go play each game.
