dear all,

i am new to paintballing and really want to get into the sport. i have started ordering clothing and masks, but i know that there is a mountain of other accessories that can be used.

what i am wondering is what products you would recommend that i purchase. i have already purchased empire clothing and a dye i3 mask. i have seen battle packs, protection, etc.

also i am looking for a starter/ intermediate level marker and what accessories you rate to go with it.

any advice will be greatfully recieved.

thanks

Tom

Don't buy new, you'll find almost everything you need in the trade section, everything is cheaper and usually well looked after.

Try NXe for a battle back
dye lock lid pods (but very expensive) if not try proto pots (avoid the just paintball camo pods there a pain!)

maybe a proto/Dye matrix marker or an ego/etek (all good gats)

Yeah, hit the trade section of this website and look for a second hand proto slg, or something similar. that'll be cheap. Have a look around for a decent hopper and an air system as well.
:)
Look at NXE for a battle pack, they're good and quite cheap when new.
You'll also want to look at things for maintenance when you get your marker. Usually it'll come with a set of spare o-rings and lube, but you'll also want to look into getting a battle swab.

Generally there's a fair amount to buy. Make a shopping list before you start buying to give you an idea of how much you need and how much it'll roughly cost. Have a look around at some online package deals. Justpaintball, LIPs and Fat Bobs have some decent sets.
:)
With paintball, it's generally a "get what you pay for" situation so don't always go for the cheapest.

Hope this helps a bit. I'm getting into the sport as well, so I've just bought all my stuff.

If I had to buy a marker setup for a mate who was getting into the sport I would probably get him a PM7 or Etek or an Ego if his money stretched to it. As mentioned you get what you pay for and all depends on your budget. Next you would need a hopper. This comes down to personal choice but for £30 - £45 you can get a Halo, Reloader B, Torque or a Pulse it just depends what you can get at the time. The only way to form an opinion is to use/own them. Next you need a air bottle and best bet is to go for a preset 1.1litre fibre wrap bottle with a few years test on it and this will cost you about £70 - £90.

perfect but you may also want to look at an evo 3, not as good as those listed but I enjoyed using one!

Lastly get a tool kit together, make sure you have everythin you need, don't get me wrong players will share but its always best to be prepared.

eg:

keys, screw drivers, spares lube, instruction booklet (a must!) whack it all in a spare pod or sumat.

thanks for all the replys already, my price range is about £200-£400 max but i would rather spend nearer the lower end. i already have a mask and clothing.

i have read the replys and most of you think that i should go for an NXE pack, is this right??

also what markers are available for my kind of price range??

Thanks

Tom

depends if u want new or not

if u look at the 2nd hand section here u can get an ego 8 for just over £300 or theres plenty of other choices that offer much better value for money than new (yes they might have a scratch but so will ur shiny new 1 after uve used it once)

Hi Baller 91,
Questions you need to answer first.

  • What type of paintball are you going to play?
  • Will it be tournaments?
  • Walk on only?
  • Scenario player?
The reason I ask this then really determines what GAT you may want to consider getting. If you want to jump into speedball tournaments straight away then Egos/Angels/DMs are the logical choice as they are standard tourney guns.
If you want to do walk ons-that is attending a local field's monthly games where you may play with a paying punter group or play against other walk ons. You then can select the same types or something a bit cheaper as it is not so important. [Minis, A1 Angel, Older EGOs/Eteks etc]
Scenario games are ones where a lot of the Military Simulation people go to play pretend soldiers and use a lot of the Mil Sim GATs, such as BT Delta Elites, Tippman X7s etc etc. They also use more tactial vests, remote hoses to give a more military feel to the game.

As you are new I would say set yourself a budget of no more than £300 for your GAT & bottle so you can get it serviced/modified to your requirements.
The NXE packs are excellent and you are on a winner with them! Get all of your 'Bounce Vests' and elbow/knee pads second hand from the forums and then if you stay in the game for longer you can buy new kit is you so desire.
One of the future Brother in Laws now plays alongside me and I ensured he did not spend wads of cash at first until he had worked out if he liked playing and what type he wanted to play. You have to be careful first starting you don't but all new when its not needed. Give the games a go for 6 months first, see what you like and then you know more about it to choose.
Cheers!
