Marker accuracy and range

After another great experiance of the Elsham tournament this weekend I have a big issue with my shocker.

For most of the day I could not get two balls to fall within 4-6 feet of each other at a range of 20-30 yards, most infuriating when you have worked a position and have a player cold.

Imagine my thoughts when some guy stood in the middle of field 1 during the lunch break tacking rapid fire shots at the poles holding the netting up and hitting them.

What do I need to do to get that kind of accuracy (or somewhere near) from my shocker?

Was it just the weather, the paint seemed to fit the barrel (Severe paint, could'nt get the zap down the barrel)

Which brand of severe were you using? what barrel are you using? what consistancy did you have over the chrono? when did your shocker last have a strip and clean?

Need more info dude!!

Paul.

The shocker has a strip and grease after the last tourney last year, after adjusting the velocity yesterday I got a consistent 285 - 295 on the crono.

The paint was the pink without the stripes, both were the same size. the fit to the barrel apeared to be fine...? The barrel I ended up using was the standard Shocker barrel.

Matski, the shocker has been nothing if not reliable and the velocity hardly changes once set up over the day. It is just running CO2 is a bit of a bitch on a cold day.

This year will be our first full year at tournament level and so we are a little reticent to spend out 1K or so on a new marker.

Cheers for your interest Paul

No probs I'm just going through the process of elimination with you.
Regarding the paint, how did your team-mates find it?
+/-10 fps aint that bad and doesn't suggest that it was a consistancy problem.

Paul.

sounds like **** paint to me mate!

i used to use a shocker with a 16" boomy or the teardrop that comes with it and i found the thing bloody accurate i'm talking 2 inches variation tops in my groupings when i was using blaze, I was using Co2 then as well, I think it must be the paint if you are sure that the barrel match was good.
(i was using an eclipse shocker though...if you have a stock one but like the feel of shockers buy an eclipse one second hand, the prices have started to plummet on them now with the arrival of faster guns.) i believe jinxy of Sad is selling his
hope this helps, RObin

Cheers m8, There was no blaze available this weekend so we used waht was available.

I find it hard to belive it was that paint having seen the accuracy of the other guy, however who is to say he was on the same flavour paint and had not transported it himself, rolled it etc.

Cheers for the tip off Robinator but funds will not be available this year due to impending Austraila trip.

Will just have to struggle on

what is your set up?

maybe you could send your gun off to Planet for some loving and maybe some upgrades! e-mail jack and ask him what parts would make the most difference in performance for their cost...
of course it could be that your solenoid is dirty and needs a clean but the consistancy over the chrono would indicate otherwise...hmmm very interesting, the only thing i can think of is paint, i shot someones T3 and 2k2 cocker, picked it up started to rip at a pretty big target and perhaps one ball out of 15 hit it! i was 15-20 metres away!!! (p.s i am not a **** shot, and freaks...stay out of this ;) ) the balls just seemed to go at right angles to after about 15 metres! found out he was using midnight (the ****tiest brand of diablo)
good luck whatever you do...
