major cocker reg problem.

have had a problem with my cocker, mainly the ANS gen x2 regulator.

i'll put this simply. when i put in over roughly 1500psi the gauge starts fluctuating, i normally have it set around 450psi input, but the gauge quickly moves up to around 900psi, before dropping down slightly.

any pressure below 1500psi in my tank is fine, cocks great, runs around 280fps just fine.

but over 1500psi, the gauge will suddenly increase, and if i input any more from the dive tank, air will leak from the exhaust valve and through the bottom of the regulator.

whenever i run low on gas, air also leaks out of these places.

anyone got any ideas???? coz im dumbfounded as to what is up with it

Sounds like (not that i know lots) a spring broken..if it has a spring in it, which most regs ive seen have some sort of spring, it may be collapsed, or a faulty piston..
Just an idea?

could be as simple as a bit of dirt has got into it, if you are confindent to do it id strip it all out and clean it

im al most positive its not that, as it has been looked at not only by me, but also a gun tech and he didnt see anything blatently obvious

strange....would definatly still go with taking it completely appart and cleaning everything then building it back up....something is causing something to stick of bind etc...

strip it, lube it, put it back together and keep the leftover peices

strip it down and clean it, at the very least its probably just dirty,
you may actually have a broken spring .

I seen it yesterday and the guage reading fluctuates, very weird like its trying to adjust all by itself. It stis still then starts rising and falling, not as crazy as over 1.5k but its small rises and falls in pressure.

Looks like a strip is needed and a spring check Mike.

i'll have a look later on, see if theres anything in there. if its the right answer, cheers guys. if not, what else could it be?

It could be a bad case of Reg PMT
