Robbo,

I play in an Amateur league in the US. It is a five-man series with seven travelling events. We average 48+ teams per event.

How would a smaller league, such as ours, draw the attention of magazines?

We have gotten no coverage in the last several years and would like to change that. We are looking for pointers on marketing ourselves to the media.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Well Chimpy, firstly, one of your problems, that of attracting our attention has already been overcome, secondly, if you do a write up of some kind, that does not deal specifically with just 'who beat who' and the scores, and send it in to us with some GOOD pics of the event, then we will see what we can do.
Certainly, the type of tournament, that being a roving 5-Man with an average of 48+ teams in attendance would merit some sort of coverage but it all depends on how good the write-up and and pictures are.
Send them in, and we'll do our best !!
good Luck

Two questions...

Are you looking for a rough draft write up or something polished and refined? Literate paintballers are hard to find in Indiana.

What size and format of pictures should I send to you?

Hey Chimpy, Well, we would prefer the finished piece but I take your point regarding the problem of finding anybody that's literate in Indiana, so do the best you can.
The pics can de digital and sent on CD or emailed if they ain't too big, I mean a 2 meg JPeg file is about the biggest we would accept via email.
If you wanna send prints, then that's cool too.
Good Luck Chimpy !!!

I had to go out of state, but I think I have found someone who can put pen to paper with a journalistic flare.

I'll be shooting digital pictures of this weekend's event. I will burn them to CD and snail mail them to you. If e-mail size is not an issue, what size (1600x1200, 1024x768, etc.) would be the best for your application?
