Me and a few mates have started a paintball team we need to get some cash together to get matching jerseys.
We all have our own gear and guns and need to start getting into tournys.
We have a team of about 10 men.
i just need to get some sponsors so if any ideas please share them

You very rarely get "nowt for owt"...people think industry types, are desperate to give away thousands of pounds worth of goods, to any old tom dick or harriet that asks...sadly, this is not true.

Sponsors, want you to promote their product/s, by being known.
So you need to be able to offer them something...also...you can quite often find yourselves in a contract, whereby you are expected to play at X Y and Z, tournaments...which menas, if you cant play as you cant afford it...your sponsors will be pissed at you.

So...dont sign up for anything without looking first at how realistic, your terms are.
Getting friendly with paint suppliers etc, is a good idea...a really good idea, is to help out at a local punter site etc, maybe for free...on the understanding, that teh site owner, gets your tournament paint for you...he or she will get paint at very good prices, due to teh sheer amount that they buy, so...they can get a few boxes of the brands tournament grade paint, ontop of their usual purchase of recball paint...probably much cheaper than you would, even if you had an arrangement with a paint company, who let you have paint a bit cheaper.

I get asked this all the time. . . . . .so here is my two cents worth. . .

Stores and sites want to know what YOU can do for THEM. . . .

Just putting their logo on your jersey is not really sufficent compensation. Can you do a trade stand at a local tourney series, can you work for one saturday a month at the local field cleaning the equipment or marshalling? Can you convert all your friends to loyal 'Brand X' product users?

. . .Sponsoring a team is not an inexpensive venture.. . make sure you walk around in their shoes. . . .

Set out a team portfolio or website, include pictures, accomplishments, media articles, statistics, team beliefs and mantras. Training regimes can also be interesting.

Also lay it out in black and white what you are looking for, no point on wasting your time - or that of your potiential sponsor if you can't get what you need/want.

Be realistic in what you ask for. A Rookie team can't expect to have all their entry fees paid for, or be 100% kitted out with everything from Gloves to Guns. . . . . where this would be much more the case for a high profile winning Professional team.

Also learn to spell 'S-P-O-N-S-O-R' and Sponsorship. After personally reading hundreds of them in my old job, nothing makes you drop the portfolio faster than bad 'speelings'. . . . .

Be Prepared. . . .Alot of companies offer you information right on their websites about sponsorship, such as

1. WE DO NOT ACCEPT SPONSORSHIP SOLICITATIONS, a la Ed and Warped Sportz

2. Who to contact directly, like Procaps / DraXxus

3. Exactly what to include in your team portfolio, like Dye / Proto do
http://www.dyeprecision.com/sponsorship.html

If you plan on calling said company, know what you want and speak professionally. . . Don't speak in Ebonics, or 'Shizzle', or use 'uh' or 'yo' between every word. . . .

get trainin....hard, an as a team, play a few tourneys, get ur team name known a little. once u start improvin an ur results show this then start lookin for sponsors.
dont be expect to be gettin a load of guns, tops etc until ur mixin it with the big boys and gettin results.
realistically ur only gonna be gettin x amount of paint free per month an maybe matchin tops till then.
practice hard enough an it'll cum!
P.s. get down northern quarter if u can that will turn u lot into better ballers in no time playin against proper ballers!
