Long Balling?

Pretty much it's established that the longballer's gun of choice is either the Shocker, sub 250 psi Cocker, Impulse, tweaked Matrix, or Adrenalin Angel. Proper bore to paint match is extra crucial here, but rather than going with a Freak I would say if you really want the absolute best, only matched straight bore barrels will do, such as the DYE SS or Custom Products bored to different sizes. In my opinion 14 or 16" barrel length is a must here. Freaks and CP pro will work well, but the exta 1-5% lies with 8-9 straight bore inches rather than just 5. However, should you not be able to afford or don't want to spend the time with that, 5-6 inches that do match is always better than 14 inches that don't.

I think for longballing the 2 most important things are a decent paint to barrel bore size match and a high quality paint. If the paint ain't any good then its not gonna break so there's no point in hitting the target in the first place (to state the obvious). The absolute best longballing paint (or paint for any purpose) has to be Diablo Imperial, but its bloody expensive too.

Thanks for the replies.

Info was v. useful - have to explain why I don't know the answer to this - I've been out of paintball (abroad) since before the intro of the Angel (it was all pumps, mags, cockers and the icon (?) in my day). I have just sold my Phantom Pro and am looking to buy a full new setup to last a while.

Any more views appreciated. Winner gets a pint at my next tourney.

Cheers,

Paul

For pure range only 3 guns will out range any others when set to the same FPS:-

Flatline Tippman
Flatline Cocker
Z body mag

These all put back spin on the ball, any other markers claiming further range is just hype! (b/S) :D

Can you get the flatline barrel to fit the cocker? Could I get one for my stock 2000 autococker?

Not only are flatline cocker setups hard to find, but they are a waste of time and money if you do find them. Basically someone that goes into the whole backspin thing ignores a few points that nearly anyone who has had one shot at them knows well: they break paint and are horrendous when they do (don't shoot clean and are very very difficult to squeegee), don't really hit that much at the distances they claim to be able to reach, and the paint is moving too slowly to break when it does reach the distance that is hoped to achieve. In short, Flatlines are absolutely inane. It's a way to take newbies' money and give them a false sense of security while someone with an effective conventional setup can cherry pick them at will and cause them to moan and scream that either the person that shot them cheated somehow and/or that they shouldn't need an expensive piece of equipment to do the job. Whine, whine whine as they will, it gets old fast and they get left behind. Do not add yourself to the list that includes them.

Flatline..

I think tippmann will fit it for you, total of about $190 but it you dont line it then you need a new cocker body.
