ok so if i buy a specialist size tank, such as a 13ci tank, from the states, and get it hydro tested in a dive shop over here, does that make it legal (or do i need to send it off to an official pye testing place?)

As far as im aware if you bring any bottle not certified for UK use over here any proper fill assistant will not let you fill your tank,

Imo its stupid scince DOT testing is much more specific than PYE as far as im aware =\

but hey the law is the law.

As for sending it off, no I dont think this will as when they test theyre tanks for safety theyre pushed to the limits of actualy explodeing to record how the bottle explodes ect.

So you can send it off, youll just have to glue it back together when they send it back :D

it's kind of stupid science imo, why would you not let a well tested bottle be filled in the uk, at least have some sort of transfer test - like they fill it up to it's specified fill pressure, and make sure it's safe, then slap a pye label on it - or stamp it or something, it would make sense - anyone know a pye tested company that makes 13ci hpa tanks in the uk then :p
