Lazy teammates

Okay, here goes.
Lets say you have a team with all kinds of great training possibilities, a adequate sponsordeal (considering nov. level)
and generally a good possibilities for putting together a great team.

What to do?
My team was at first quite motivated for tournament play, but after playing a few, (and performing badly as a result of poor equipment) it all kinda stopped, now it's just me and two other guys who is really in to it, the rest is like "nah, maybee I'll come by the field tomorrow" and such... (and now we have spend **** much money on bad-ass equipment)
It sucks big time for the rest of us, as I want to go over to sweden and play joy next year...
Anyone who have experience in this kinda stuff and knows how to motivate other teammates? I have also the possibility to get other players, but I would prefer to get my friends to play...

Alright mate, seems like your in a bit of a crappy position.

I aint really an expert on motivating a teametc, but wot I would try n do is explain to them that you guys are only gonna get anywhere if you train and play as a team. Arrange a date that EVERYONE who wants to be in the team has to turn up, those who don't could be replaced by recruiting other players.

If it's your mates that don't turn up and you'd rather play with them, then there aint really alot you can do. If they don't wanna play then they don't wanna play. But if your team starts doing well or takes training seroiusly and are progresively getting better and better, then I wouldn't be surprised if your mates come back knocking on the team door to get in.

Team works the key (so am told) but you can't have any team work without a team, so start concentrating on just getting your squad up to numbers and training, then worry about who is in it. Besides if your team gells at training you'll probably find your gonna do much better at tournamets based on the fact you all work as a team, rather than 7 guys goin out thinkin wot they as an individual has to do during a game, rather than working with the rest on the field.

Thats bout all a got mate, as I said a aint an expert but I hope it helps :)

thanks man, that was what I had in mind, but I wasn't certain to go through with it or not, seemed kinda unfair to the other guys since it was them I started playing with, but like you said, if they don't want to, I can't force them...
The local indoor-field has just been put up, and it gets a lot of attention, so hopefully, I'll be able to choose from more than 5-6 different players in the future..:)

Any other opinion regarding motivation?
I know videos of games (especially nations cup , tolouse and such) tend to get the most normal guys hooked up, so I'll try putting up a tv set in the club-room, and maybee gather the troops.

My advice is to make sure each of your players play because they have a passion for our beloved sport if not you might have the wrong team members, try and make training fun. have social nights out for team members and wives/ girlfriends etc. set team goals each month and more important have a team meeting every month to discuss everything and ensure team subs are paid. if you want we will come and train with you ... just pm me if you are interested..
