Laurent and I have now talked upon his return to Europe and it took about 10 minutes before the problem was resolved.
I was made two offers, firstly:-
I can miss the first event in Marseilles and not be barred from the remaining four
or
I can play the first event and my sponsors would be contacted making a case for contract conditions being lifted for this one event.
This situation was ongoing anyway between me and Dave YB (Dye), Ceranski / Piper (PMI) and Ledz (Planet).
Now why on earth we couldn’t have arrived at this situation before is anybody’s guess because it took no more than 10 minutes of talking to arrive at a sensible solution.
All I ever wanted was a choice of options that wasn’t forcing an exclusion mandate upon my team through no fault of our own and be allowed to play in the Millennium CPL series, and thankfully, Laurent has provided that option.
I obviously was not aware Laurent was gonna make me the first offer (though I was hoping he would) and so in the background of all this, I had a team waiting just in case who fit the necessary bill with regard to sponsors etc.
The Reapers from South Africa (the same team we just picked up Steve de Maghalaes from) were already earmarked to play our spot should we need one.
In fact, Jeff Abbott from Dye Europe is gonna head up the team and make sure all goes well in the Nexus name and so I am hugely grateful to him and Dave YB in letting me do this.
I had soo many cool people either call up or mail me offering to help out to which I am hugely grateful, from Chuck and all the Jags, to Dusty from Northern Ireland and MarkB, just a few of the people who stepped up to help me.
This was an unpalatable affair and one that should never have happened and I want to put it all behind me and just get on with what I wanna do, and that is to watch my team Nexus play paintball at the highest level on both sides of the Atlantic, I have never wanted anything else.
I could have taken Laurent up on his offer not to play Marseilles and one part of me desperately wanted to do this for obvious and vengeful reasons but it would have perpetuated bad feeling I think so I chose, as a gesture to Laurent and as a thank you to the guys down in South Africa to let them play in our jerseys.
And so, thanks to all who have been instrumental in this commonsense outcome.
Laurent, Duffy, Dave Youngblood, Billy Ceranski, Ledz and Piper, all of whom have played their part.
Sanity returns at last !
PS I deleted the other thread for obvious reasons.
