Chris Lasoya on X-ball: "Trying to play-on was pretty common, but if you noticed, seven or eight times out of 10 we would get caught and end up in the penalty box. If you don't play by the rules, you've got to pay the price."
Any comment?
Sounds like something you hear a lot of sportspeople saying, when the stakes are high any advantage. In a way it's just like diving in the box to get a penalty or making the most of a tackle to get a free-kick or a player sent off....cheating but now unfortunately part of the game):
I don't condone cheating, I really hate it but I'm afraid that we have to accept that people will play the grey and stray heavily into the black areas of the game in order to win.
At least he wasn't complaining about the refs in that quote like a number of footballers over here would, he seems to accept that if you choose to break the rules and get penalised then that's right.
But I look forward to getting home and reading the whole article, as long as it's arrived
