Ok just a quick query would hockey pads work as good as paintball pads as far as I can tell the only difference is paintball pads are elasticated and hockey pads are Velcro both are impact pads and by the looks hockey ones are stronger and more durable but you get less movement... Any opinions?

They could do, but aren't they quite large? You may benefit from the elbow pads but in my opinion I just forget the shin pads, as a pair of paint balling pants will take the impact out a little bit.

Unfortunately shin pads won't cover your knees mate...
Yes you are correct but the knee pads as part of the knee and shin pads (see thread title) will protect them lol think there described as knee and shin armor on Ebay some for hockey and others for motocross

I have no idea regarding the hockey pads but for me knee pads area must. The ones I have cover my knee and top half of my shin, for me this is great as I tend to take a lot impact there, they also allow great movability so much that I use them for work as well.

I use good old trace knee/shin pads. I don't think they are still made, but they've been the best bit of kit I've bought over the years. Wish I'd bought more pairs now. soft foam so you get the odd bounce, but still strong enough to stop stones etc. gouging my knees.

I stand corrected they are still made and sold in the US. Softball pads. I now remember buying them in the mid 90's when we played the world cup.

I'd used them alot up until 2006 (twice a month or so) - then took a break from PB and recently got back into the sport and they are still as good as when I bought them. I've played 3 times this year and they are as comfy and strong as ever. No I'm not a speedball weekin week out slider, mostly woodsball player, but I'm still impress by this product.

Are these knee pads for woodsball or speedball? I have the Dye knee pads for under my paintball trousers when playing speedball and i love them. Super comfy and work great, however if you're playing in the woods you might want something a bit tougher to deal with kneeling on tougher ground.

Have you thought about picking up some lightly used PB pads?
