Since there seems to be a nice chunk of gossip here already, I'll leave the p8ntballer forum readers to disseminate this wherever.
I have heard from a few different people now some variation of a rumor that the NCPA is being sold.
Any variation of this rumor is false, as any quick investigation would quickly demonstrate.
The NCPA is incorporated as a non-stock (non-profit) corporation in the state of Wisconsin. As a non-stock, it isn't really owned by anyone, so the idea of selling it is quite silly. It is controlled by a Board of Directors which is picked by the college clubs, and day-to-day stuff is run by a group of officers appointed by the Board, including myself.
There's also a variation of this rumor that says the NCPA has signed a contract with Paintball Personality X (pick one, I've heard a few). This rumor is also entirely false. A quick parusal through our bylaws, available on our website, would show that any contract would have to be approved by the Board of Directors - and if that had happened, it'd show up in the meeting minutes - which it obviously hasn't.
I chalk all this up to the NCPA becoming more visible in the paintball world, and thus more ripe for being a rumor-mongering target - flattering, but not terribly accurate.
So next time you hear a "The NCPA is going to be sold to..." or "The NCPA has sold their soul to..." rumor, recognize it as just that. The NCPA was built by college players and remains committed to supporting college players and under the control of college clubs.
If you want to know who runs the NCPA, there's a list right here:
www.college-paintball.com/contacts.html
Basically a bunch of college students (the board) and alumni (the officers) you've never heard of before.
Also, our incorporation information is here:

Thanks,
Chris
