Just got an email from "P8 Talk Mailer"...

... but the address it came from was webmaster@ml.com, it was supposedly for a "reply to post 'KOTH 4 - Update'"

This immeadiatly set my alarm bells ringing because I've never posted on that thread! LOL

Apparantly the email has an "unsafe attachment" called "Newtextdocument.txt.pif" which is 27KB in size. The text in the email is as follows:

"More information is available on our support website at
http://support.freenetname.co.uk, should you need it.

... the lovely people at Hotmail have managed to get there first and it won't ever allow me to open it

typically, anything with a .pif attached is a virus, so don't open it!

Why do people attach virus's?
I spose they hope that people are so used to seeing P8nt mailer's that they wouldnt notice the attachment, but then I never open em, just delete them.
Why cant they bung the email into a hex editor and do it that way?

I guess it made an effort to trick me but it was pretty lame when none of the P8 Talk emails have attachments normally!

i got hit by it but nortoN system works stopped it. in the last month i have been hit by ntl, p8, uk jags

some one is spreading it around and probably not knowing
