At big games like the Millennium Series I think it would help the ultimate if each field had a watcher in tower. This guy could then be asked by the Ultimate what happened.

The reason for this is that the Ultimate has to go round to every field that has an issue and decide without even seeing the game what happened and make a call... This I think is why at Germany many issues that where bought to the Ultimate attention he could not really do anything about. If there was a marshal sat in a tower watching over every field then that person would be able to help the Ultimate make a decision and not just have to go by what the marshals on the field have to say.

I'm not having a go at the marshals... They have a hard job and just can not see everything all the time as the game is so fast. They are always looking to call out players or watch moves... This is when things get missed as they can not be looking everywhere at once.

I just think it would help out the Ultimate and the on field marshals to know that there is someone else watching that can help them make the right decision.

What do you lot think... would it help....

Instant replay would be kinda nice too. Unfortunately too many people would object to that being used, as some people that commit virtual atrocities on the field would have nowhere to hide. However, yes, I think an overhead referee is an idea that is far underutilized. Perhaps a tripod deer stand would be an ideal way to do it, as such are readily available and stand around 16 feet tall, which is quite sufficiently high to be out of the way and provide sufficient field of view. Perhaps one day in the near future if the promoters really go all out there will be a blimp above big events. :D
