Hello lads.
Just a quick response to your thread Pete.
I think you may be right about the Walmart thing, Decisions are still being made but it may be worth knowing that JT USA and JT Europe are two separate companies, albeit owned by the same parent company.
The market in America is quite a bit different to that in Europe and I hear that in the US business is down in some cases by 70% from that of two years ago. In Europe this is not the case and as here we have a far higher level of what I would call "grass roots paintball" which at the moment seems less affected by this world economic downturn,in the end only time will tell.
Sorry I missed the meeting,I was in Germany for meeting,I hear it went well, this is good news.
Happy new year to you all.
Simon Cole. JT Europe.
Hi Si, I think maybes we will witness a change in policy from Walmart in 2009 which has them discontinue paintball products as I had predicted but...we both know that even though JT Europe is distinct from the US in terms of sales, as you rightly say, they are both owned by the parent same company ... and as such, I think both are tied to the same fate even though there may be some mileage in making a case for JT Europe to be sold as a going concern.
They will of course, try to sell off the business as against pulling the plug but I'm afraid the present climate isn't too conducive to selling anything concerned with paintball at the moment least of all a large concern like JT that has just lost one of its major customers.
I do hope things unfold differently but I have seen far too many examples of corporate policy decisions ignoring anything in the path of survival or in this case, not losing any more money.
Sometimes the good die alongside the not so good, I hope this isn't the case here mate.
Have a great new year Si and say 'hi' to the other half for me and see you at the next UK meeting ...hopefully !
PS What's with the double barreled name thingy????
