It's all true, we've spoken to players from both Avalanche and Ground Zero. The two stories tallied up with what we wrote on the font page. Go check it on P8ntballer.com front page. We don't have the full story as to whether any of Avalanche did actually know of Salm's plan to head off into the woods and shoot at GZ players while the game was going on. There are rumours, but that's all they are. Nothing like that would ever be confirmed, but the act itself looks like it was enough to give Avalanche some huuuge problems with their sponsors. It doesn't end here, that's for sure. Wonder what WDP will have to say about it all?

Everyone was talkin about it, and there were some pretty far fetched stories coming out, chinese whispers and all that. We hope to get some sort of statement from Salm at some point for the next issue of PGI - although he may have changed his name and decided to move to a hut somewhere in Alaska for a while.

His pro career could be pretty much over. As for Wdp, I dont think theyll be impressed but these things blow over and the emphasis has been placed on Salm, not the team.

Oh, it's no rumour. But WDP and JT have decided to stick by Avalanche on the basis that it was one player that just went a bit crazy and trusting Ed Poorman when he says none of them knew anything about it. Salm has lost his job at Warped Sportz, his place on the team, the option to play in any PSP events next year, and basically his pball career.

I agree with that decision after all i would be very pi**ed if i were the other team and i got shot out by some one not even playing.

The guy should have thought about his job and career before he did that STUPID thing.

It wouldn't look good on the NPPL, Warped Sports and Avalanche if they didn't do the things they did.

I think he got away lightly by not being able to play for a year.

Mr Big (or anyone)- Do you know anything about a Rage player supposedly smacking a ref around the head with an air tank and getting arrested?

I didn't hear about Rage but I heard in the Fuel game that one of their players was hit on the head with a tank w\and was bleeding.

I think this was on the same field that Salm later shot GZ kids on.

Can't confirm Rage story either

but there was some sort of altercation involving Rage and refs. May be that some of the various stories got confused in the telling and re-telling. There were a number of suspensions across the board.
I should think one effect of receiving a suspension is that the sanctioning body state publically who, what and why in part to make sure everyone knows exactly what happened and all manner of "wild" stories don't make the rounds and to add to the punishment a suspension entails.

Having said that try this on for size. Rumor has it (and I'm repeating it minus the names involved as I don't know it firsthand but have reason to believe it's probably true) that an Am player who was formerly a Pro played for a Rookie team in 10-man using a temp I.D. [bearing a false name] that the NPPL didn't bother to verify even after the issue was brought up to Cookston.
So what's the point of registering players other than to make some extra green?
