Both me (with my dm4) and my mate (with his dm5) are confused as to why the first ball fired drops off real badly when we start firing after a pause. Now I'm using a thinner lube than him (he's using the dye slick stuff I used in summer), but I thought because of the ABS feature the first ball wouldn't have any drop off at all - in fact, of all the balls fired in a rope it would be the one LEAST likely to drop off.

So, can anybody explain this phenomenon?

(Plus does anybody know where I can buy a job lot of membrane pads?)

Thanks

See sticky in Techroom about cold weather settings.

Also check your no.17 orings (BOTH OF THEM!!! - Cylinder and Top-hat) and your no. 15 bolt sail o-ring.

These are likely to be the culprits. If they are swollen they will slow the bolt down on the first shot. The subsequent shots dont drop off because you have the bolt moving and momentum is playing its part. The Anti Bolt Stick is working by definition if you can fire a ball on the first shot. It is just that the increase in dwell is being counteracted either by "sticky" o-rings or "heavy" Lube.

I hear that changing out the bolt tip oring also helps for some reason (I don't know)

If I remember rightly, replace the #14 with a #12 size ring, and that causes too much blowback up the feed tube try a #13.

Worth a shot, thats what I did on my Proto.
