Hey there everyone, I have been playing paintball since I was 10 (ehheheheheheheheh........):p , but now I'm finnally gonna buy myself a gun. I never jump right into anything, so I calced everything up:cool: and now I'm wondering what I am right about, where I'm wrong and what are good ideas as far as expansion (thinking FAR ahead) goes. So I live in canada, which is why everything that looks like it's cheap is just a kick in the teeth when you see the "In US funds" sign at the bottom of a web/mag page

Anyway, here we go - (THESE ARE EXACT PRICES WITH TAX INCLUDED IN CANADIAN FUNDS)

I wanna get a Spyder TL Plus .............$367.98
A package with 400 free paintballs, hopper, elbow, tank (free fill- up), and a JT Spectra Thermal goggle mask..........$161.00
(A squeegee of course)[ I already have the necessary tools for tune - up/cleaning 'cept for squeegee]................$11.50
Armor Gloves (I hate getting shot between fingers)...$22.94
and finally, an ADCO Hotshot.............$57.49
FOR A TOTAL OF $620.91 CANADIAN (that's were I am):)

So.... what do you think? I read reviews on a site and the average out of 10 was 9.3 so it seems to be a solid gun (Spyder TL Plus) and I'm wondering if there is anything I need more than something on the list or maybe some.... well, I dunno - that's why I'm asking:D :D

ah the delights of a spyder check that the tl has a vertical feed as these feed the balls faster. if not go for an extra or one of those nice new electro spyders if these are out of your price range go for a black dragun $199 US. personally i would go for something with more clout then a spyder though. An auto-cocker is the best bet, its a tourney level marker and you can upgrade all the parts on it as you progress in skill.
Also consider the purchuse of an electro-hopper it saves on all that rattling of your gun as the feed dies.

Look around to see if you can get that setup used at a field near you. Stuff like that sells all the time as people upgrade past it rather quickly and often, and pass on the gear already put together for around $150 US, a considerable discount from what you're looking to pay. I would never pay $620 cdn (around $400 US) for that. Ditch the adco hotshot, as it's not a worthwhile purchase for a first gun. That money would be far better spent on a barrel instead like a Lapco, CP, or DYE excel. Don't spend more than $60-70 US on a barrel, again look instead to see if you can get one used as there are thousands of used Spyder barrels in circulation right now, particularly on eBay.

Good luck!

i priced up a tl plus kit from www.thepaintballstore.com with basically everything you'd need (tank, mask, squeegee, hopper, 4 +1 pack w/ tubes, etc.) plus a drop forward and a new barrel and it was only $327 US.
i think your estimate is a little high. a tl plus is like $220 retail not over 300.
you should be able to get a good entry level gun and kit for arounf 200 to 250 US

OK, firstly check the date of a thread before you followup... chances are this guy bought his kit long ago, upgraded it, sold it, bought a new one, got it stolen and bought an impulse with the insurance cash... you get the idea.

Secondly, his prices are all in CANADIAN DOLLARS (since he put it in capitals to be clear I thought I would too :) ) $367CAN is... let's see... about $225US. Always read the post properly before jumping in with a followup.
