of setting it so when i click a thread it takes me to the first post, not what it "thinks" is the newest post.

you what? do you click the > symbol or the thread title. Thread title takes you to the first post, the > symbol takes you to the newest post, least it does for me

the title takes me to what the forum calsses as a recent post, when its a thread i have never read. it can be annoying =/
