IR3 experts required?

Just a more general enquiry really, looking to buy an IR3 in the new year but was wondering if any of the tech guys had any advice on anything to look out for or avoid?
As they are unfashionable they seem to be going for good prices and would make an ideal back up for me instead of buying "ahem.......deep breath................................an Ion"
So john, tom & co, anything to avoid with these beasties?

The first thing to think about when buying an ir3 is, are you going to get a Spitfire eye mod.
If so, the board version on the ir3 is not important, but if you don't intend to get the eye mod, make sure you get mem6 on your board.
Personally i would look for the ir3's that don't have the cutlass grip frame, unless you like this of course.
And the newer ones, 03 versions have better gas flow.

I reckon a spitfire mod would be on the cards at a later date, it depends how much they are? Can you PM me an idea on cost, i assume you know
Just in case that's beyond my budget, how do i tell the boards apart so i get the mem6 version?
And are there any area's of the gun that wear heavily?
And also being a cocker man "what on earth is a cutlass frame",
i know obviously the grip frame, but can you explain the cutlass bit?

the cutlass frame has a guard around the bottom two fingers as well

For the mem6, it will show on the display as the ir3 is powering up.

Your gonna buy an IR3?

I let you have my gun for £250 without teh barrel...then you can swap all teh bits around and have a decent back up..better than a poxy IR3 anyway!!!

I just want something as a back up for next season, i don't want to buy an Ion and as you are aware the IR3's are silly money at the moment.
Just want something different really and fancy an Angel but i can't afford a G7
