IR3 - Big Boo Boo?

Subaru became very popular with the success of the 95' WRX impreza turbo winning all but two WRC stages, therefore car sales rocketed and created a cult following with companies starting up like Prodive and Scoobysport concentrating purely on impreza turbos. but the new 2001 model turbo is ugly, people are'nt buying them in the same volume as the old ones based purely because of their looks! I think the same thing will happen with the IR3, fair enough it's packed with features and WDP sure know their stuff but man......its ugly! catchma drift?
The fine print in some tournament rules state that no form of electrical comunication, transmiter or reciver may be taken on the field.
So could the IR3 be thought to break this rule?

Gogger... the IR3 can only communicate by IR within a few feet of anothe IR3 so I don't think that communication is a big problem... unlees of course you're doubling up in a bunker!
You're right about the subaru thing. The new Imprezas are ugly as sin.
However, there's a crucial difference here; Almost everybody agreed that the new Impreza was ugly. However, opinion on the IR3 is firmly divided; I reckon only about 30-40% of people actively dislike the new design.
I happen to quite like it.
Also, bear in mind that the custom shops (Warped, Adrenaline, Cobra, maybe even Eclipse) will all have their own variants which will look completely different.

thats funny. my mate has just brought a scooby and i think its no way as good as the old one. he keeps tarting it up and everytime it ends up looking more and more tike the old one. reading that post made me smile. and for what its worth i'm not too keen on the ir3. was in a shop the day the pics came out and they loved it, couldn't see what the fuss was about.Originally posted by Walker (PsychoPimps)

the main objection for most people seems to be the space frame . so after marketers will probalby make a better looking trigger assembly . personally i thinks its pretty cool.
