Hey,

Basicly, i have a ION with a CP reg and just bought a SP on/off and rail for it. Fitted it all ok, cut the new legnth of macro line, fitted that.

Gassed it up today at my local site and had a small leak from where the macro line joins into the elbow on the reg, played a few games and it was fine.
So i decided to move the On/Off a bit further forward on the S-rail to stop the leak, Gassed the marker up again, and there was this massive bang. The macro line i had fitted had blown a hole in itself?????

Does any one know what the cause of this might have been?
I was thinking it could be the ASA, the reg, or even just some shady macroline.

Oh and just a side note, before i fitted the On/off the CP reg was working perfectly well.

sounds like a macro fault if it had a weak point and you bent it woudl make it split . happens in beer lines and and heating pipes .

That would make sense, every thing was working fine before hand, i really hope it was just the line.

I wont be buying any more line from people off here lol. strictly brand new line for me from now on.

Best advice I can give, is to use Tom Allen's fittings and Macro Line, very highly rated.

The macroline is not supposed to be pulled completely tight before you put air in it.
It should always have a slight bend in it.
Or the line may be pulled apart when the collars contract.


As mentioned, Sir Thomas Of Allen is the macroline guru.

ahhhhh, i see where it went wrong then,

there was no slight slack on the macroline and then to add to it there was a slight bend in it to get it up from the mini drop.

I have also seen cases where a fault with the preset regulator on a bottle has caused the output pressure to be too high, causing the macroline to burst so you might want to check it's output. HP should be around 800psi LP aroung 450psi.

Thats why we dont like using plastic pipe for heating.... copper only!!!!! dammit ......damn push fit pipe.....but yeah sounds like a macro fault
