i've been playing with my ion for a bit now and iwant to upgrade and iwas wondering if anyone knew of any good upgrades to make it more consisent or just plain cooler. I was thinking of a bolt upgrade cause idk i was just thinking that but i'm not sure whats a good brand to go with. And i also heard that the virtue boards are pretty raw with this gun so if anyone knows of anything that i should upgrade on let me know. Thanks everyone. Peace.

hemel hempsteead oooo love it
welll first off i owuld advise if you want better consistancy etc.... go for the lucky stage 123, which include your new bolt. next gor for the whole virtue set, board and eyes i have the eyes and they make soo much difference. buy a new QEV and then mayb a new reg if you wana really splash out. then its really just the normal upgrade barrel, q lok etc. also if you wana go lookin ultra pimped join the rest of the paintball world and buy some hybrid grips small yet really effective:rolleyes:

hope this helps

Ok, I have an ion and ive upped loads on it. I'll tell you what i did and what i think of each bit:

Trigger - Upped to a New designs trigger. Less side movement, more adjustable, loads better. oh, and it's easy to install too.

Feedneck - anyone who owns an ion will tell you to replace the stock one. I got a rez clamping feedneck but the SP one is as good.

Barrel - I got the stainless steel Freak back and 14" Freak front..it rocks. I never used the stock barrel so i cant compare.

Grips - took off the stock ones and put on Dye hybrid stickies. I love them but unless you cut the back of them you have to take the whole grip off to change the battery.

Bolt - Got the firebolt. I love it. it makes such a difference.

Board - Replaced the stock board with the Virtue board. I would recomend it to everyone. best upgrade ive done.

ASA - replaced the stock one with a CP on/off. does the job. busy waiting for a maxflo micro to arrive to replace that though.

also got the virtue eyes on order.

I wouldnt bother changing your reg though.,

Ion Ups...

All the recomendations for ups are good, but you need to think about what you want. If your on a limited budget I would recomend performance and practicality upgrades only, and would do them in this order.

Q-lock feedneck - Keep the damn hopper in!
CP Oops - Less wear on tank thread. Makes it easier to screw tank in and out.
Freak barrel system - Better bore to paint match = better consistent accuracy (if your on budget just get largest bore only)
SP 360 QEV - Makes the gun work more efficiently. You use less air!
Lucky Stage 1, 2, and 3 - Stage 1 = bolt, Stage 2 = Firing Can, Stage 3 = Donut. Will make your gun cycle smoother and again use less air.

(QEV and lucky stages require adjustment of the dwell which is easy peasy)

Triggers - Before you change the stock trigger (which aint bad if you set it up properly), have a go on someones Ion who has an aftermarket trigger to see if you would benefit from the change.

Board - I personnally wouldnt recomend a new circuit board unless you got a money tree in your back garden. The gains aren't much when compared to the £ spent. (No flaming just my opinion guys :) )

Cosmetically, anything you flipping want! New body kit, grips, whatever...

My Ion = Black ion with: Q-lock feedneck, CP Oops, 14" Freak barrel with .692 bore, Lucky Stage 2, SP 360 QEV. Next Investment will be Lucky Stage 1 and 3.

360 QEV, i've heard good reviews from it. although i think someone here had troubles with a leak, if u do have a leak, find that thread and check what ppl say about fixing it.

360 Qev

People say you may need an extra o-ring and/or some PTFE tape when you screw it in. I've fitted mine without either and it seems fine so far......

I just removed the original banjo, cut the pipe back, fitted the QEV, screwed it in.... and bob's your uncle... all done.... (other than fiddling with dwell of course..)

If I had to do it again, it would be a 2 minute job...
