ion scew and ball detent

hi guys, not really a problem just abit curious.
firstly i bought an ion 2nd hand and cant help to think that there is a screw missing. its inline with the front grip but where the barrell would be. so you would have to un screw the barrell to get at it.
is there meant to be a screw there? if so which one as i have a screw kit and dont want to put the wrong one in in fear of cross threading.

secondly, are the ball detents either side of the breech? as in they have one on each side? just after the two holes which im assuming are the eyes???

oh and what is the maximum psi you can allow into the ion from the front reg?
someone told me not to go above 140, but the manual and others say not to go above 180?

the screw above the reg under the barrel is a black countersank and mine says YFS as well. And as long as you use a chrony (max 300FPS) and turn your psi on the reg up from a low setting you should be fine I've never had mine cranked up past 180psi to reach 300FPS

Anywhere between 140 and 165ish is fine. You won't do any harm at 180 and indeed 210 only blows hoses off barbs. It's not an exact science and will vary gun to gun according to various variables

my ion shoots at a steady 280 fps at 120 PSI.. my m8s is at 165 PSI for the same result..

Tempermental little swines are the Ions..

yeh, the countersunk screw is just another body retaining screw

what kind of pressure should leave the regulator on the bottle? think mines about 850 psi. shows about 180psi on the gauge on the Ion.
