I think over 200 is okay (not to much though mate). To change the input you screw the nut at the bottom of the reg, i can remember which was but will say in the manual. Tell him to read it again!:)

it should be about 190. gas it up and adjust the velocity on the reg, refer to the manual if ur not sure cuse i dont know if the reg on the sp8 is diffrent from the ion.

Turn the gun upside down and then turn the reg nut anticlockwise to lower the pressure and obviously clockwise to increase the pressure.
But obviously put the gun over the chrono to see what you FPS you are firing at?
When i first tried my ion i needed about 220psi to get 275FPS, but that has now lowered to around 175psi and gone up to 285/290FPS, so i assume it just needed bedding in?

i have 450 psi from my air system and 160 psi showing on the Ion gauge.
first shot is sometimes a little higher 295fps - 300fps ish, but then it drops to between 288fps - 293fps ish.

before cleaning and lubing the reg it was all over the place.

this dounds like the problem i had, where you need the pressure to be at 200psi just to get any were near teh desired fps. And by the way i never got mine fixed i just sold it off in bits

Coblers, unless it's got a QEV I've not seen a Ion run that low for 280 - 300 fps
Hmm, apologies to all if I've mislead people with my lack of knowledge of ions :)

Ion gauges have no issues with accuracy at all. I have no idea where you've got this from?

QEV's do not affect the operating or working pressure of the gun. They only affect the speed at which the gas in front of the bolt vents - ie; how fast the bolt goes forward.

No Ion on my team (and we all have them) operates at anything other than 140 psi
