Ion programming query

Hi folks, I have a bit of a dilemma with programming my ion

The manual I have states the following:

solid yellow - dwell up
solid red - dwell down
single blink yellow - recharge/ROF down
single blink red - recharge/ROF up
double blink yellow - fire mode up
double blink red - fire mode down

however ZDS states:

Solid yellow - Dwell up
Solid red - Dwell down
Single blink yellow - Recharge up
Single blink red - Recharge down
Double blink yellow - Fire mode up
Double blink red - Fire mode down

Who is right?

I'm guessing it's ZDS as they appear to follow the correct pattern of yellow up, red down

i think you will find that single blink red rof/up means it cycles faster,so if you turn the recharge down it also cycles faster,its the same thing just worded different,does that make sense?

correct.
rate of fire is rate it cycles. recharge is how long the solenoid waits before cycling.

thus to up rate of fire you shorten the recharge time........

If you want to keep it simple stick to the SP ion manual. That tells it how it is and doesnt try to confuse you.

If your not sure, max out your rate of fire and see if the Ion fires fast or slow. Then take it to the other end of the range and the see again. It should be obvious which way you want it after this test.

My recomendation is put it to the max of 15bps and then tinker about with your dwell as previously posted.

well the only thing is that when I tried to bottom out the recharge i.e. set it to 0, I selected the single yellow led and got 80 blinks (out of a possible 88)

No I bought the marker off zxr who seems to know what he's doing and from the notes he had on the bottom of the sheet I'm assuming he had 8 blinks and not 80.

Maybe I'm reading it wrong as some of you have said.

from what I could see the dwell was at 40, the recharge at 8 giving me this fabled setting of 48 (from Ion cheats). It was in rebouncd/ramp mode and when I tested it at the guys house it was cycling quite happily, input pressure was well below 200psi as well.

I might just knock it back to semi auto for the weekend and see how it goes. I don't fancy tinkering with it whilst the temp outside is -6

I think I've cracked it, it was just a matter of understanding the terminology:

single blink yellow - recharge down - rate of fire goes up
single blink red - recharge up - rate of fire goes down

So my recharge was set to 8 blinks
