Guys my mate jus bought an ion today and had a leak, its all sorted i managed to fix it but here is my question as i had the same problem on my ion. You cant screw the middle body screw and the back body screw on too tight as it pushes something against the frame and causes leaks, if you tighten it then slacken them off a little the leak goes away, is this a common ion problem ? that you cant have the body kit on really tight ?

cheers in advance guys

Something that could be causing this is a hairline split in one of the hoses. So when you tighten the screws you are in effect pulling the hose upwards and therefore opening up the split.

This could just be one cause.

But can i ask, why would you want to overtighten the screws? If you can have the banjos in tight enough for them to not come updone but not really tight so you get leaks then is that not good enough?

Hope this helps.

opend it up as it needs new eyes, and how are you meant to upgrade without opening it up ? its not the banjo's its the actual frame screws, the one near the trigger and the one at the back, cant be too tight otherwise the body gets pushed against the frame and you get a leak.

We've got 8+ Ions on the team, and have had exactly the same problem a few times with guns that have Smartparts and non-Smartparts QEV's. Take it apart, fiddle, back together, apart again, back together ... and eventually the leak dissapears. Replacing the rearmost banjo may sort if the problem persists (not the QEV, just the regular banjo at the back of the gun) - you can pick them up for as little as £2.50.

Got to say, this is pretty much the only issue we have had with our Ions in coming up to 12 months use now. None of us have ever even replaced an o-ring yet.

I read somewhere that the non SP QEV's were slightly larger (sometimes) thus making it difficult to screw the body down flush with the trigger frame...if you then forced it you would end up snapping or bending the fitting, thus damaging it (or the seal) and creating a leak.
