Put a hair dryer on it mate that will get it to come off as they use thread lock on them ..

Brute force, but DON'T put it in a vice - if you really get stuck, use a strap wrench (after heating it) or a jam jar lid remover!

do you have to dismantle the gun before heating it up and remove it?

Clamping molegrips with a layer of rubber in between the molies and the feedneck.

Yeah but what if you sell your clamping feedneck to someone else to buy a different clamping feedneck (as I did) and you get a gap between the two with a tourney in it. There are plenty of options that don't destroy the feedneck. Nickyboy's sounds sensible...
