Ion Eyes

Hi folks

my eyes on the ion dont do anything and gun wont shoot with them turned on atall. Works fine when they're turned off (apart from a wee leak in bolt somewhere). Just stripped n lubed it all n the eys are clean n plugged in properly n no nicks in wires.

Any clues?

Try putting a new battery in. Usually fixes most problems with ions.

Chech the wire connecting the eyes to the board is correctly plugged in at both ends (into the eyes and into the board).

Check to see if the eyes have been bent on their board.

Have you been dry firing the gun alot or used it alot? If your ball detents are worn (usually through dry firing) the balls maybe rolling forward just enlough to no longer be breaking the eye beam.

Turn the gun on (without any air) and check the on/off button is single flashing (means eyes are on). Put youe fingure down the feed neck into the breech, making sure it breaks the eye beam. Does the light start flashing constantly or remain single flashes?

just tried a fresh pro cell. No change.

plugs all in ok. eyes aren't bent.

Detents should be fine, but tried with finger n a fluffy down feedneck already anyways... It never goes into the constant flashing thing that it should when it sees something when the eyes are on (single flash).

I dont know the exact part for the eye board, like whether they output a high or low when they see something. If i can work that out, or if anyone knows then i'm sure i can work out at least where the problem is.

Take your eyes out,connect them to the board and if you've a camera phone(some phones don't see IR bust most do)use the camera to see if it lights up,thats how i checked mine.The light isn't very bright but you should still be able to see it.

just tried that and cant see anything. So either my phone soesn't see IR or my eyes aint turning on properly. My phone's a Nokia 6210, if u know whether or not that should work...?

nah nah, it never blinks fast. Seems there's a problem with the eyes working atall - they never see anything...
