Ion eyes

I have 2 Ions which have been selfishly left in a sorry state (with smeg still on them) which I have recently fixed some leaks on. The problem is that the eyes don't appear to work anymore, on both, but they were totally smegged up with paint when I cleaned them.
The way I tested the eyes was to simply put my finger down the feedneck and this should be detected by the eyes as a ball etc.

Or am I wrong?

If the eyes are bust, does this mean a phone call to SP for some replacement eye boards?

yeah putting ur finger in the hole usually works.
thats how i test them anyways(degases ofcourse) and its allways picked them up.
have you put the eyes cable in the right way??

ah, now I thought it only went in one way? having said that, I haven't actually unplugged one of them yet and it still doesn't see it

For some reason, ive had this happen to 2 sets of my eyes.
They'll just not want to work anymore.

Replacements slide straight in and work. So find out that warranty

Interesting that you say you left them with smeg on. Im pretty sure mine werent smegged

I (not me) didn't leave it smegged, it was a friend. His warranty might be up now I think. Can you just get them as spares?

make sure to clean eyes if smegged otherwise they die

well thats why I thought they'd gone in the first place, this guy hadn't cleaned em for like 6 months after playing 3 or more tourneys a month!!!

how much are replacement eyes?? cant fine them on sp website

yes you can get replacement eyes - but make sure the ribbon cable isn't pinched, and that the sockets at either end are in good nick

You have to ring SP, and, no, they're not on their website. Be prepared for comedy P&P charges

Putting your finger in the breach of an Ion and shooting is no great shakes - as the Riptide boys demonstrated at HGIII. I wouldn't try it with your tongue or your old man tanner, but it IS a low pressure gat, after all
