Hey,

I am just getting into Paintball & Before everyone starts sayong 'Sell your Ion & get an Ego, not point in upping it!' I dont have the money just yet & I am not playing enough to warrant a 'super marker' at the minute.

I have changed a few things on it & next I am looking at upping the Board, Trigger & Bolt. Can anyone suggest or have even got a cheap part for my Ion?

Cheers

I don't think there's any point in changing the board at present. As for triggers, its down to personnel preference,i've got a CP Blade and a NDZ and the NDZ feels so much better,no sidewards movement with it.
Bolt wise i could modify your stock one to the same standard as a Firebolt(copy of the stock but lighter) for a fraction of the cost,£5+postage
I'd also look at changing the detents to some Kila's,buy from LIPS,£10 posted

If you want my honest unbiased advice.................don't change a thing !

As you are new to this game, may i ask you what your gun is "not" doing in it's stock set up?
I've tweaked the stock trigger on mine to be snappier and a better feel, and i fitted a QEV, and other than getting an impulse threaded freak back for a freak barrel kit i already had, i've made no further modifications to it and it'll keep up with the best of them.
So the question i ask again is why are you trying to improve the gun at this level of your playing career?
My advice is to spend the money you have on paint and green fees, and learn to improve your playing style and field awareness before spending shed loads of money on an "ubergat that shoots a squillion balls per second" and is "so awesome dude that it shoots ropes", but in the real world it will not stop you getting shot out in the first three seconds of each game.
It's your money but i wish i'd been given that advice and listened to it:eek:

Cheers for the advice Lucky.

Tbh with you, I am not sure. I am not too bad at the minute, can do most things you pro do but obv not to the level that you do them at.

I also have a QEV on it, just upgraded to air & just want to improve it that little bit more, both my mates have spyders but most of the time I can keep up with them or even kick their ass.

I am not going to do a lot to it. My plans were:
New Trigger
New Bolt
New Eyes
(any other suggestions, cheap mods but will improve it a little bit more)

Get a new trigger by all means as that is a subjective thing that some people like to do but others don't. I hate the plasticky feel of my trigger but i've got the "snap" feel just right so once i put some gloves on it's no different to a custom trigger.
The eyes will make no difference to it whatsoever, and as for the bolt, well it's your money:rolleyes:

Probably a better mod would be to change the board, i have just recieved a T board from IONCRAZY, bought through a group buy with a dye membrane pad and adaptor for around £35, all kinds of fun to be had with this board and it's half the price of a blackheart.

Mind you, if i hadn't of damaged my board i wouldn't be changing it:( , but found this was the cheapest repair for it

I made my own ion trigger out of alluminium melted and recast and it rocks:D
Ions are great markers as there are loads of upgrades for them now so you can upgrade as and when you can afford it.
And as for so called super markers they are good but hey do they really do anythin an ion cant apart from look pretty.
bottom line... ions aint just starter markers they actually do compete with a vast range of high spec markers out there.
My main marker was a shocker then i got an ion as a spare just to get me out the crap now and then. I have only used the ion since and im now trying the new DYE pmr .which also rocks oh boy does it rock. And great for £250.00 ready to rock out the box
