With the new site being built for round 3 it gives us the opportunity to run some different ideas in the afternoon as we will have more field space available.

With that in mind we have always had the idea of an intro x ball league as an open format to give teams a proper chance to play xball at a slightly reduced cost to that of the full blooded race to 4 format.

With the M5 format taking shape we will be running a race 2 format in that for the Premiere divison, but this will be a rapid turn around style in line with the Millenniums format.

We intend to run a race 2 xball format which consist of 4 x 6min race to 2 points with a 2 min turn around time limit.

This way its a lower cost option for teams wanting to try the format, but it will still maintain the excitment and fast pace of its bigger brother "race 4" and offer a stepping stone for those who would like to play the full format.

Initial cost will be set @ £200 per event, but for teams who have entered in the M5 morning slots, or teams that wish to enter a second team into this format will then we will give the usual 30% discount which makes it £140 per team (£20 per player based on 7 players).

Let us know what ya think :)

Question Rich, why are you reinventing the wheel?

Both the PSP and Millennium Race to 2 formats don't have the games (points) scheduled to run back to back (to allow teams with fewer personnel to turn around between games) and are 5-minute individual game (point) times.

I think both you will find this a lot easier to schedule and the teams will find this a lot easier to keep up with, after all, it is supposed to be an 'introductory' format, not full blown Race to!

Effectively, each team is scheduled to have 2 games against each other team and a third one if needed, rather than being successive points, the Race to 2 title is a bit of a misnomer really.

See this for clarification on the MS Race to 2 rules/scheduling http://www.p8ntballer-forums.com/vb/showthread.php?133799-2010-MS-Rules&p=1342409#post1342409

Ill try and clarify what we were aiming to achieve by this. In the CPPS we have 2 main formats, M5 and M7 X ball.

Now after rd 3 the 5 man will be ranked in order and have the following format types:

M5 Premier, M5 Race 2 format as Millennium/PSP guidelines. Locked division.

M5 Championship, standard 5 man format. Locked division

M5 Conference, standard 5 man, open entry format (non locked).

But then we just have M7 Xball as an open format. After discussions with several teams we wanted to use a format that was the same intesity as M7 Race 4, but with a lower cost factor to help teams get a flavour for it. Also with the quality of teams playing our M7 league it needed a lower tier putting in place as a stepping stone, and also less of a financial burdon on the teams.

Hope this clears up why we are doing this. Not re-inventing the wheel, just trying to get the best use out off what we have.

No worries pal, im always happy to discuss what were doing as i believe transparancy is the best way forward. And if people wanna question our ideas i am happy for em to as it can often lead to improvements on what we are doing.

Only spoke to a few teams that may be interested in this but hey, if it works out people would rather have an open format that is the same as the Millennium race 2 (same as our div 1, 5 man) then we will go with the flow.
