I have been thinking a Paintball alot lately
And mainly why has our sport not captured the eyes of the world fully!!!
Consider the advancements made in the way we play and the tools we uses.
When i started playing (1991) the markers had to pumped before you pulled the trigger (daystate pump) thus giving you a bps of about 0.5!!!
then came slam fire just pull the trigger and pump for your life (traccers and stirlings) this gave you 3-4 bps (more if you were single)
then came semi's a massive 7-10 bps became possible!!
We all played in woods in full camo with upto 40 players per team on fields upto 12 acres!!!!!
We now have electro pneumatic markers that fire upto 30bps!!!
they are equipped with hi-tech sensors that detect if there is a ball ready to be fired, some can be connected to a pc for upgradeing and for trouble shooting, some proberly have more processor power than my old spectrum computer.
Tourny's are now played on moveable and changeable fields that fit onto a football pitch, with 5-15 per team and grand stands the sport is easy and fast to watch, the players all wear bright clothing that can help to distinguish teams, games are fast paced and exiting.
Even if the media does not pick up on the sport as an exciting action packed sport, there should be intrest in the industry it self,
look at the big names in the sport like Smart Parts, WDP and Dye (I know there is more) These companys have put a lot effort ,time and money into making the sport what it is today, the research into making a marker fire at 30 bps and not breaking a ball must be a huge task!!
There must be some kind of recognition these people can get for the technology they have came up with, if they had done this kind of work in any "main stream sport" they would be known to every member of the public and kids would be wearing Dye gear out clubbing!!!!
These are my views and mine alone
Thats the most i have ever writen since leaving school!!!
